The Plain Truth about Speaking in Tongues
One has to admit there is a lot of garbage around disclaiming this as a logical out pouring of the Holy Ghost.
Lets cover off the essential but what people overlook first and that is The phrase the “former and latter” rains occurs multiple times in the Bible. Jeremiah 5:24; Daniel 11:29; Hosea 6:3; Joel 2:23; and Haggai 2:9 in the King James Version Bible (KJV) are just a few examples.
Relating this to Spiritual only; It would be fair today that after 2000 years or 2 days in the Lord’s time, we are in the latter rain of the latter rain before Jesus returns. Even Jesus said; Behold I am at the door, that was 2000 years ago, If He was at the door then, the question is how long does it take to open a door? Not long. 2 days maybe, 2000 years.
Therefore we are in the latter rain – The pouring out of God’s Holy Spirit – the latter rain.
Getting back to the subject many have called speaking in Tongues the following: emotional shouts, dancing, speaking gibberish, and fainting spells, jabber jawing, the ability to speak in anothers’ human language only when needed and many more.
Well having had the ability to speak in Tongues for more than 34 years I can testify that the above is all a load of crap!
There are 21 scriptures in the Bible that talk about Shouting for Joy. That is not the Holy Spirit – Speaking in Tongues manifestations!
There are 19 scriptures in the Bible that talk about Dancing. That is not the Holy Spirit – Speaking in Tongues manifestations!
Speaking gibberish is not the Holy Spirit – Speaking in Tongues manifestations!
Fainting Spells is not the Holy Spirit – Speaking in Tongues manifestations!
There are 33 Scriptures about Prostation and 32 about kneeling before the Lord – Neither of these are manifestations of the Holy Spirit – Speaking in Tongues manifestations!
If someone needed to speak in another’s language then the Holy Spirit could give someone that ability – But then why not just give that ability to the international Speakers when they fly to Russia or India or anywhere why make the person speak through the interpreter when that speaker speaks in Tongues? So that is disproved as well. Otherwise all International Speakers would want the Holy Spirit just for that ability – The Holy Spirit is not about to let one abuse such privileges!
What is the Holy Spirit – Speaking in Tongues and what is it for the believers and new believers and those whom may be interested?
Funny, when you see pictures or representations of old, they look in full control, conscious, not shouting, not babbling, not fainting and so on. No quite the opposite, they are in full control, they may be loud, their not babbling an they are not fainting.
Can someone Shout? Yes they can
Can someone dance? Yes they can
Can someone babel when they are not suppose to? Yes they can
Can someone faint? Yes they can – especially if it is hot – or they are sick
Can someone lay down on the floor? Yes they can
All the above they can do – but it is not the Holy Spirit forcing them to do it. God may come upon them and they may do those things – But its not a sign not a gift of the Holy Spirit!

Glossolalia or (speaking in tongues) is the fluid vocalizing of speech-like syllables that lack any readily comprehended meaning, in some cases as part of religious practice. Some consider it as a part of a sacred language. It is a common practice amongst Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity.
Glossolalia (and especially the idiom “speaking in tongues”) also sometimes refers to xenoglossy, the putative speaking of a natural language previously unknown to the speaker.

Old Testament Scriptures re Speaking in Tongues
Isaiah 28 v 9-12
9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Points are:

You have to start at no matter what age as a baby in the Holy Spirit in God

It’s a little bit by little bit, sort of like an onion thick layers thin and fine layers

He speaks to us via a stammering tongue and another language? What Language? Out of the tens of thousands of languages on the earth in Isaiah’s day – there was going to be yet another language! and finally;

The ability to have and do the above will be a rest to us and a refreshing – yet most do not hear what the Spirit is saying.
and that is just one passage!
So we see that God has mentioned a stammering tongue and another language – But does not say it will be Gibberish, Babel-ling, Falling down, Dancing, Yelling, making strange sounds; also does not say we won’t be in control, and does not say we become overly emotional to the point of beginning to sound like an idiot.
New Testament Scriptures regarding Speaking in Tongues
There are many
Matthew 3:11 Foretold by John the Baptist – I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. But he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Now we see Fire as well – The Holy Ghost and Fire – Sometimes physically seen most often not.
John 7:37-39 Necessity to have it –
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Out of His or Her belly shall flow river of living water the Holy Spirit. IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED HIM
John 14:15; 26
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
So without the comforter, The Holy Ghost/Spirit you don’t get taught the way you should that is mentioned in Isaiah 28:9 – 12 above Line upon Line, little upon little precept upon precept.
Luke 11:9-13
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
If you don’t speak in Tongues then you have not Asked God for the Holy Spirit!
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Power was going to be given when they receive the Holy Spirit and when they did they spoke in tongues – now that should be enough for anyone – give me the power ! But for all this they would not listen!
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Power was going to be given when they receive the Holy Spirit and when they did they spoke in tongues – now that should be enough for anyone – give me the power ! But for all this they would not listen!
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The Spirit gave them power and ability to speak in tongues – No Holy Ghost – No Holy Spirit – You do not have the power to speak in tongues of the Holy Spirit gives!
Act 8:5-20
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
See the Holy Spirit gave them the power to do the above and including the power to forgive sins. If you forgive sins then they are forgiven in Heaven but if you do not forgive neither are they forgiven in Heaven! Now that is power! To forgive sins in Jesus name – Cannot do it unless you have the power of the Holy Ghost – so that you are in accordance with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:44-46
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
If they have not heard them speak with tongues of the Holy Spirit they would not have realised that the Holy Spirit had been given. In other words – No Speaking in Tongues – No Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:1-7
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.
AND again No Holy Ghost – No Speaking in Tongues
Ephesians 1:12-14
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Holy Spirit God promised to us, so who are we to deny God and say we do not want it? It is the earnest of our inheritance! Refused the Holy Spirit and you are refusing to have your inheritance!
Acts v 4 again now you know you have it
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
When you Speak in Tongues you know you have received the Holy Ghost / Holy Spirit.
Mark 16:15-20
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Power of the Holy Ghost means you WILL have the power to:

Speak in Tongues

Rebuke devils and demons from people and from there own lives

Deadly things if bitten may not kill you

If people poison you, you may not die

The Sick will get better

and much more!
